Geary wins China tournament for the second time

New Zealand golfer Josh Geary equalled the tournament record when racing away with victory in the Yunnan Open in China last month.
Geary finished the four rounds of the China Tour event at 25 under par which was the same score posted by Gunn Charoenkul of Thailand when he won in 2014.
The win was Geary’s second in the tournament. He took out the event two years previously when Gunn was the runner-up. On that occasion Gunn was just one stroke behind Geary but this time round he was seven shots back at 18 under par.
This year Geary started the final round with four birdies in the first five holes and pulled away from the field with a total of  seven birdies and no dropped shots.
Geary said afterwards:  “With Gunn being on my back, I had to play my best to win it.  The four-stroke advantage I had before the final round could be gone quickly if I did not pay attention to him, whose best score here was 11 under.
“The feeling was so good when you could uphold the champion trophy again.”
The winner’s purse was nearly $NZ50,000.
