Longest Day Challenge benefits North Haven Hospice

Two of Hikurangi Golf Club’s stalwarts undertook a 72 hole challenge to raise funds for the North Haven Hospice.  Inspired by the Cancer Society’s Longest Day Challenge, and because the club had already raised in excess of $23,000 for the Cancer Society at their Daffodil Day Golf Tournament, Darren (Frog) Johnston ran the distance (shooting 361) with Darren (Monkey) Bownes completing the challenge in a cart (shooting 324) in a time of 5 hrs 31 minutes. While they registered their distance at 28km, it was probably more like a Marathon distance when taking into account their zig-zagging around the course!  Supported by members during the round and with monumental sponsorship their achievement raised over $4100 for the Hospice.  They thank all who supported their venture.
