The New Zealand Veteran Golfers' Association (NZVGA) is an umbrella organisation which co-ordinates more than 40 tournaments over nine months of the year.
These events are held at more than 30 different clubs from Northland to Wellington.
NZVGA secretary Launa Seddon said the association was keen to expand it’s tournament schedule.
``We are always looking into  having new events added, along with the chance of an event in the South Island in  early 2019,’’ Seddon said.
The tournaments are for men aged 55 and older and for women aged 50 and older. The calendar starts with a men’s tournament in Auckland and ends with a national tournament in the first week of December.
“The event formats are as diverse as the clubs we play,’’ Seddon said.
“Some are men only, women only as well as mixed events. There are 18-hole and nine-hole events too.’'
Seddon said the duration of events vary from one to five days and can be hosted from one to four clubs.
“The emphasis is on participation,’’ Seddon said. “There is no joining fee to play in our events, just be a member of New Zealand Golf and of your local vets or seniors golf association.’'
In addition to the national calendar; each district which are members of the NZVGA hold regular playing days for veteran golfers.  These are daily tournaments. Visitors are always welcome to join in on these days.
Seddon added: “Veteran golf is a great way of meeting a wide variety of people, playing with and against golfers of similar age and handicap to you, providing an opportunity to travel around the country having a holiday while playing golf.’'
The calendar of tournaments, news, entry forms and results are available on the NZVGA website at www.nzvga.co.nz.
