HUGE WEEKEND FOR NZ PROS

Eleven New Zealand Professional Golfers are playing on various tours around the world. Two majors will possibly hold centre stage with Lydia Ko in action in the Women’s PGA Championship at Congressional Country Club and vying for a slice of the huge US$9,000,000 prizemoney.

Meanwhile Steve Alker and Michael Campbell are in the field for the US$4 million US Senior Open. Campbell made the cut in his first foray on the tour recently while we will not be surprised if Alker’s form and fitness have him vying for the lead in the final round.

Ryan Fox has Billy Horschel in his group at the BMW International in Germany. Starting on the back nine Fox was off to a flier with birdie on his second, a par 5 and an eagle on nine another par 5 Then followed birdies on the 14th and 15th another par 5 and on the final hole another par5 he got up and down from the bunker for another birdie and tied first with half the field yet to finish.

Danny Lee whose form has been inconsistent to say the least will be looking to improve on a reasonable finish in his last outing with an even better effort at the Travelers Championship. Michael Hendry is in Japan for their Players Championship. A poor +2 first round has left him well off the pace.

On the Korn Ferry Tour Nick Voke has another start and needs to contend to improve his chances for an end of season top 25. Denzel Ieremia is again in action on the Latino America Bupa Tour in Mexico.

The Epson tour Island Resort Championship sees Amelia Garvey looking for a high finish to improve her chances of a season end top 25 and a shot at the LPGA Tour. It is good to see Queenstown’s Laura Hoskin has gained a start.

Finally and not least Cantabrian Momoka Kobori is playing the Vlanderen LETAS Trophy in Belgium on the European LETACCESS tour looking to repeat her first up win two weeks ago.
