The saying goes you can’t have a good relationship without good communication. Four time major winner South Africa’s Ernie Els feels there is a place for LIV Golf on the year long golfing calendar. He sees no reason why it could not be condensed into three months as an end of year event where this 20/20 cricket equivalent could be played.

Els says “The whole world will be watching. With guys trying to buy teams it could be like Formula One. Billionaires coming in and having fun with the teams, along with the players and the fans because it is different and fast moving.”

Els has called out for the PGA Tour and DP World Tour to end their “tug of war” with LIV Golf and urges PGA boss Jay Monahan to sit down with LIV boss Greg Norman to work through a compromise for the good of world golf. Els says “It is crazy at present and a shame how things are split.” He is not impressed with the stirring from Norman, the retaliation from Monahan and the players speaking out.

Els feels that for LIV to be seen as real golf it would have to change it’s format, although he sees it as boosting the Asian Tour which it sponsors because it will provide ranking points events for the LIV players. His big worry is the major impact the whole fiasco could have on the Presidents Cup, with so many players having gone to LIV. As Els said it is time for discussion and compromise.
