Tolich Trophy Final -Its Horsham Downs Vs Huntly Golf club
The finalists are confirmed for the Tolich Trophy – Horsham Downs Golf Club v Huntly Golf Club to be held at Kawhia Golf club on the 18th October 2020.
Horsham Downs have never won the Tolich Trophy in the club’s 76 years of history.
Huntly Golf Club Manager Russ Ford told Golfer Pacific NZ.
“Yes the boys have done really well and it would be great if they could now pull off a Plate final’s win in this our first year back.
I can only speak from a Manager's viewpoint. The achievement will definitely help send out the promotional message that ’Huntly is back and competitive!’
Over the past 2 years we have consistently grown both membership numbers and rounds played by over 300%. The more recent post COVID lockdown nationwide growth in public interest, has been some icing on our cake, and long may it continue. Most of our gain, however, has been the result of doing the fundamentals well, including course product presentation, walking the talk, member volunteerism, active promotion and sensible product pricing.
Our endeavour is still one of living out our FUN, FRIENDLY and AFFORDABLE mission statement, so that we can continue to farewell members and visitors with a satisfied ‘I’m coming back soon’ smile on their faces. Finally, it is most satisfying when new members begin to see the real benefit of actually belonging to a club and start to bring their friends, partners and tamariki along with them. There is nothing better than seeing a Dad or Mum with a young child walking the fairways together, or kids improving their soccer skills by playing foot golf. After all, they are the future our club and the game we play.”
