Canterbury Golf -Max Walker honoured with Life Membership

Former Canterbury Golf President and Hawarden Golf Club stalwart Max Walker received his Canterbury Golf Life Membership on Saturday when Canterbury Golf President Mike Rondel and General Manager Grant Lewis visited the club. After being soundly beaten in the haggle against Max and his long time friend Keith Yorston, Max was presented with his Life Membership by Mike Rondel in front of an appreciative gathering of club members.

Max served Canterbury Golf over a long period of time. Amongst his contributions were:

  • North Canterbury Committee 2004-2010

  • President of North Canterbury Golf Association 2005-2006

  • Canterbury Golf Executive Committee 2012-2019

  • Canterbury Golf President 2012-2014

  • Canterbury Golf Mens Events Committee 2012-2019

  • Canterbury Golf Rep Committee 2012-2019

  • New Zealand Golf Board Member 2014-2018

As expected, Max was very humble when receiving the award and said he enjoyed just helping people and doing his bit. Max continues to contribute at Hawarden as a volunteer greenkeeper, having served for over 18 years in various positions with the club
