Beating the odds at Gleniti

A search on Google states that the likelihood of getting a hole in one is 12,500 to 1. The PGA estimates that there is one scored every 3,500 rounds which is pretty slim odds. However this week at Gleniti there was not one but two: On Jan 23, Anne Thompson (handicap 30) scored one on #2 with her 3 wood and the playing group didn’t even see it go into the hole and spent some time looking for the ball

Then on Jan 27 Kevin Longman (handicap 14) scored one on #11, again with a 3 wood

Pics attached of Steve McCoy of Rockbridge Management who is our generous sponsor for this handing over the cash for both lucky players to pay for the drinks. It does seem a strange tradition that the lucky player has to “shout” drinks following this achievement when one would expect that the other players should buy them a drink to reward them
